I haven't been on this forum in some time now, mainly because I've been extremely busy with school and work.  However, I posted a topic the last time I was on here about my heart palpitations and being put on a heart medicine, etc. etc. and I think Mo replied with some insights into NAET treatments.

My endo upped my Armour to 90mg and not long after, I noticed my heart palpitations were becoming less and less frequent and I was beginning to lose the weight I had been putting on for the past year now.  Imagine how excited this made me =)  However, about a month or so ago I started getting worse heart palpitations than I was before.  Only this time, I would be sitting down and relaxed and all of a sudden my heart starts racing and continues this for anywhere from 10-20 minutes or sometimes longer.  Also, I feel a fluttering in my chest a good majority of the time.  I am out of breath a lot, because of my racing heart as well.  I know something is up with my heart, and I'm suspecting these new symptoms may be brought on by the recent stress of going away to college and being away from my family.  However, I'm not due to visit my endo for another 3 weeks now.

Now to the point of this post.  I went on the NAET website and found a practitioner about three hours away from me that specializes in Women's Health, which was what I was looking for.  However, I'm curious about NAET treatment.  I was hoping someone on here who had actually been through the treatments could give me their honest opinion on whether or not they think these treatments might help my palpitations and racing heart.  Also, I'm curious as to what NAET treatments involve.  What sorts of things go on in these treatments, etc.

Thanks,
Heather

HI Heather,

I'm sorry it took so long to reply. I was unavailable this weekend.

Your question is "loaded" and adequately answering it would take a very long reply. So, I will post a very good article from the web I picked up quite a few months ago that does a good job explaining the NAET treatments.

The format may not copy well into this editor but you will get the information anyway. I will post it below after I am done replying.

On the palpitation issue... I would first be sure you are not doing anything different that would be causing them. I think you have identified some stressers already and I would strongly recommend EFT on the spot during these episodes to see if they can be controlled that way (it's free and it's very effective!). If it is controlled through EFT, you might also be able to identify the trigger if it's emotional and end the symptoms that way. Here's a very good tutorial and walk through for you to use next time they come on...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vku0jPpOlt0

Also (my favorite place to walk through EFT)

http://www.tapping.com/videos/stress-relief.html

Now, there is also a good possibility that the increase in your medication is giving you more T3 than your body needs and could be causing your palpitations. In that case, you might want to put a call into your Endo and ask if you should slightly reduce the dose to see if there is any relief over a few days. If they won't do that, I would recommend you consider using EFT to "treat" your pill using the words "I choose to allow these pills to benefit my body and not harm it in any way". Sometimes this is all that is needed. I know that sounds strange but sometimes we can develop a type of allergic response to a substance and EFT has had interesting results in calming our systems enough to allow the medication to do it's job more effeciently. Remember though, I am NOT a doctor and you need to do what you feel comfortable and I am not saying this in place of a doctor - I would recommend you consult with your doctor before changing your medication! EFT does not hurt you - it can relax you.

Did you view the NAET video on www.naet.com where she is interviewed in the news? That basically shows you exactly what is done. It is very simple. Most NAET doctors now use accupressure instead of accupuncture so what she is showing is very accurate in how my treatments work.

NAET requires a lot of patience and multiple treatments. Before moving forward with NAET, you need to be in the mindset of doing it as long as it takes to get to the "root" allergies causing your symptoms. Sometimes they are addressed very quickly, while other symptoms (like autoimmune diseases) can take many, many treatments due to the complexity of the disease and the multiple triggers that can be involved. I would honestly not do NAET unless I was closer to the practicioner's office than 3 hours. I live about 15 minutes from my NAET doctor but have traveled as far as 40 minutes in the past. I have gone mostly twice per week. The success has been remarkable for many of my allergies but on the Hashi front, we are still waiting to see how it will respond over multiple different aspects of the thyroid treatments. There are combinations and other components, making this a detective "game". Emotions are very much involved and I have chosen to focus on those at my treatments too and I believe they have been as needed as the physical treatments. So, the process can be long, honestly. Not everyone is as complicated as me (my age and life traumas have added more complications) so the younger a person is, the likelihood of less treatments is good.

If I had a recommendation, I believe EFT is the best way to go if money and distance is an issue. If you can find a "partner" to work with you, you are even doing better. Muscle testing is a big advantage is someone can learn how to do it on you. You may have some emotional or physical triggers to foods and environment that EFT can help with. I have been shocked at what it is capable of addressing. Research it well and go to www.emofree.com. Through away what doesn't feel right to you but chew on the rest. I am comfortable with most of it until it gets quite advanced which isn't really necessary for my situation anyway. Take some time to study the reasons it works and do what feels right. It should at least be tried for anxiety.

Here's the article I told you about. Forgive me ahead of time if the formatting is messed up. Smiley Hope this helped. Mo Smiley

NAETwas developed by Dr. Devi Nambudripad D.C, L.Ac, R.N. PhD. of
NAETwhile using acupuncture to treat herself during an allergic reaction.
Theapproach in its current form has been available for approximately
eightyears. From 1997 to 2000 I was the only practitioner of NAET living
inthe southern hemisphere. From 2001 new practitioners have been
trainedin Australia.

NAETis a method used to determine and clear (or fix) allergies. NAET
usesmuscle testing to determine what your allergies are and
acupressureto clear them. NAET uses vials of allergens as the focus of
treatment.
Whopractices NAET?
NAETis performed only by licensed health professionals who are trained
in it.
Briefly,how does NAET work?
Allergicreactions are the result of a wrong response to something by the
fromresponding correctly. If these energy blockages are released, the
bodyresponds as it should and the person is no longer allergic to the
substancewe are treating. Removing these blockages and imbalances
alsohelps the body in many other ways.
NAETis safe and painless. Therefore, kids have no trouble receiving
NAET.In fact, most of the children look forward to their visits to The
BrightCentre.
Thebest news about NAET is not only that people heal from all kinds of
seriousillness, but that they no longer need to avoid foods and exposures.
Thereis hardly any human disease or condition in which allergic factors
arenot involved. Any substance (including parts and products of the
bodyitself) can cause an allergic reaction in any individual. Allergiescan
causeany and all symptoms.
TheOrder of Treatments
TheNAET process begins with the treatment of 12Basic Items and 26
SecondaryBasic Items. The twelvebasic items are proteins, calcium,
VitaminC, B complex, sugars, iron, Vitamin A, minerals, sodium and
chlorideand corn and grain other than corn and yeast. The 26
SecondaryBasic items are grains, wheat, food additives (including
coloursand flavours), caffeine (including coffee and chocolate), nuts,
spices, gums, fats, yeast, mould, candida, digestive juices, RNA/DNA,
hormones, enzymes, parasites, alcohols, amino acids, vaccinations,
virus/bacteria,fabrics, pesticides, chemicals, pollen, phenolics and the
endocrineglands. Treating the 12 Basic Items first allows one to begin
toassimilate essential nutrients from the food one is eating every day.
All ofthe 12 Basic and 26 Secondary Basic Items are mixtures of many
individualitems.
It ishelpful to understand the significance of each of the 12 basic
treatments. Each basic vial relates to how our body functions as well as
containingspecific nutrients and foods.
Thefirst item (egg, chicken and tetracycline) is related to how our body
utilisesproteins and amino acids. Amino acids are utilised for every
singleactivity in the body. Egg white is similar to our own amino acids.
Theyolk is related to our fat metabolism. While you may not have an
obviousor overt reaction to chicken or eggs, you may find improvement
inprotein and fat metabolism as a result of the first treatment.
Manycomplaints not directly related to chicken and eggs have often been
eliminatedas a result of this first treatment in the Basic 12.

Thesecond of the 12 Basic Items is calcium. Calcium is significant forall
bodilymovement. If a patient is allergic to calcium, he or she cannot
absorbcalcium from food to run many normal bodily functions. The
resultmay be fatigue, body aches, muscle aches, constipation (because
thecolon is unable to relax), hyperactivity, irritability, insomnia andother
problems.Treatment for the Calcium Mix may eliminate allergy to milk
products.
Thethird of the 12 Basic Items is Vitamin C. Vitamin C is utilised and
depletedvery quickly with stress. It is stored in the kidneys and liver.
Deficiencyof this vitamin creates an inability to compensate for stress.
Suchan inability weakens the adrenal glands. The adrenal cortex
shrinks, creating a chain reaction of fatigue and sugar cravings. Vitamin
C isalso a natural anti-inflammatory. Clearing Vitamin C often helps
decreaseoverall reactivity, including reactivity to environmental
allergens.
Thefourth of the 12 Basic Items is B Complex. B Complex vitamins are
neededfor the maintenance of the nervous system. B vitamins are also
essentialin the metabolism of sugars. Treating this item often helps
symptomsand diseases of the nervous system.
Thefifth of the 12 Basic Items is sugar. Treatment for sugar not only
healsallergic reactions to sugar, but also normalises sugar metabolism
toglucose and ATP. Often patients need to be neutralised to sugar in
combinationwith other items. This is particularly true in cases of
diabetes.Sugar is also essential in the assimilation and distribution of
B-complexvitamins, and therefore allergy to sugar often results in
disordersof the nervous system.
Thesixth of the 12 Basic Items is Vitamin A. Vitamin A is important for
skin, teeth, eyes and mucous membranes. It is also important for
calciumuptake and the development of bones.
Theseventh of the 12 Basic Items is iron. Iron is very important for
properfunctioning of the immune system and for the health of blood cells.
Theeighth of the 12 Basic Items is the mineral mix. Minerals fill a
multitudeof essential functions. They catalyse almost every bodily
functionand are essential for proper electrical and pH balance.
Theninth of the 12 Basic Items is salt and chloride. Salt and chlorideare
essentialcomponents of electrolyte balance and water distribution.
Thetenth of the 12 Basic Items is corn. Corn is found in an enormous
numberof food and nutritional items including tablets.
Theeleventh of the 12 Basic Items is the grain mix. Grains and milk are,
worldwide, the most common whole food allergies.

Thetwelfth of the 12 Basic Items is yeast. Yeast is found in many food
products,especially baked goods.
TheBasic Treatments have a spreading effect because these items are
foundin hundreds of foods as well as in natural inhalants like pollens.
Reactionsto Treatments and Frequency of Treatments
Reactionscan occur to NAET treatments. The most common reaction is
tirednessfor a day or more after the treatment. If this occurs it is best
torest and not over-exert yourself. Other reactions to NAET treatments
caninclude allergy-like symptoms, and even symptoms that would occur
to theitem that has been neutralised. For example, one woman treated
byCory for cigarette smoke had all her cigarette smoke symptoms for
twodays, even though she had no exposure to cigarette smoke. If there
aremany and prolonged reactions to NAET treatments, they are done
lessfrequently. Most patients are able to tolerate one NAET treatment
perweek without much, if any, discomfort. Since the discovery of
Breath-AssistedNAET, many people can be safely treated as often as
everyother day.
Thereis a detoxification process that often occurs after NAET treatments,
asallergic by-products are cleansed from the body. This detoxification
accountsfor many of the symptoms that can follow a successful NAET
treatment.
Incertain cases, an important allergen may need to be neutralised a
It isimportant to complete the current treatment before continuing on to
thenext. If a treatment is not completed, the patient can experience
exacerbationsof existing complaints.
Thereis no harm in taking breaks in NAET treatments, or even stopping
themaltogether. The gains made will not be lost.
ThePeriod Following a NAET Treatment
NAETis a painless but profound treatment. There are profound changes
inenergy along the acupuncture meridians and throughout the body
duringand after treatments. Such changes may create fatigue or other
symptoms. Therefore it is best to allow time for rest after your
treatment,as well as eating meals that are simple and as free of known
allergensas possible. The energy made available by caring for yourself
inthese ways will help your healing.
TheSpecial Role of Emotions in Allergy
Emotionsare very important in healing allergies, as well as in the healing
of allhealth problems. In NAET, traumas, stresses and beliefs are all
treatedas part of the allergy elimination process. Traumas include past,
recentand current traumas. Stresses include past, recent and current
stresses.Beliefs are current and are very significant in the healing
process.Quite often patients need to be treated for beliefs such as the
following:

IfI get well I will be overwhelmed with the demands of life.

ThePermanence of NAET Treatment
Physicaland chemical allergies successfully treated with NAET do not
returnunless there is a massive exposure or stress of the intensity that
makesordinary people chemically sensitive. For example, a number of
ouracquaintances have gone from healthy to disabled from a single
massiveexposure. Such an exposure can recreate allergies in those who
havebeen successfully treated with NAET. Significant items may require
severalor even many treatments to finally clear, but this is not common.
Emotionalallergy can return any number of times if one is not careful to
avoidunpleasant things while eating or cooking. Food should be
preparedand eaten in a peaceful atmosphere to avoid creating or
recreatingemotional allergies, and also to increase the assimilation of
valuablenutrients.

Dos
1.Drink lots of water after NAET treatments to help cleanse the toxins
releasedfrom your body.
2.Observe and record any reactions from exposures (food, chemical,
electromagnetic,etc.).
3. Eatnon-allergenic items as much as possible.
4.Continue all treatments you are currently undergoing, particularly
thoseyou find helpful. NAET does not conflict with any form of
treatment.

1. Donot wear any perfume, perfumed powder, strong smelling
deodorant, hair spray or aftershave when you come to the Centre for
treatments.
2. Donot smoke at the Centre. Do not wear clothes that smell like
smokeor paint. Other patients could react to the smell.
3. Donot eat heavy meals within four hours of NAET treatment.
4. Donot cross your hands or feet in the time (about 20 minutes)
betweentreatment and re-check.
5. Donot read or touch other objects during the 20 minutes between
treatmentand re-check because such contact could cause the
treatmentto fail.

6.Wear no jewellery, or minimum jewellery, when you come for a
treatment.
