Has anyone heard that if you have Hashimotoes that you should not be on the generic brand of synthroid (levo) and should always take Synthroid?  I was getting a facial today and the lady that was giving it to me told me she was told that by her endocrinologist.  Just curious because I have never heard that.  Thanks so much!

When I was first diagnosed with Hypothyroidism (my HMO dr. didn't care about the Hashimoto part - which I only later found that I had), I was prescribed Levothy'. I've been on it for few months and it was a disaster. Only when I went for second opinion, the new endo' said that from his experience some patients don't do well on the generic and should go for the brand 'Synthroid'. I have been well adjusted since I started to take it.
So - it seems like there might be some thruth to it.
However - the real question is: how do you feel with it.
If it works for you then should you change anyway? I am not sure I would...
